BORDER PIPES Currently available in G and D these pipes have a range of 1 1/2 octaves and are chromatic for most of their range. They are played using half closed fingering. They can be mouth or bellows blown and are fitted with 3 drones. The bags are made from hand sewn leather and all of the reeds and valves are synthetic.At the moment I'm using damson wood for these pipes (shown on home page) other timbers are available on request. STUDENT PIPES IN G a simplified version of the border pipes, usually mouth blown with a single bass drone. The chanter has the same range as the full sets. At the moment I am using pear wood for these pipes, the ones shown bellow are made from cherry. These pipes can be returned in part exchange for my more expensive sets (up to 80% of original purchase price, depending on age and condition)£550.

 

GRANDE CORNEMUSE BOURBONNAISE This bagpipe originated in the Bourbonnais region of central France. They are played with open fingering a rich sonorous tone and have a near chromatic range of 1 1/2 octaves. Currently available in the key of D and fitted with two drones, the tenor drone sharing a stock with the chanter. Plain Style Made from apple, cherry or pear wood (subject to availability) without decoration £1200 With mounts of artificial ivory , artificial horn, boxwood or pewter (simple bands rather than the complex incrustes d'etain) Made from plum, laburnum £1450 or boxwood £1550 With incrustes d'etain from £1800 depending on the complexity of the design/choice of timber.
